Names Released in Sunday Shooting in Murfreesboro

WGNS has more news on an early Sunday (5/1/2016) morning shooting at Aspen Heights Apartments on Old Castle Road.

Murfreesboro Police responded to the apartment complex at about one in the morning on Sunday where they found gunshot victim Saqer Alzhrani. The 26 year old had been shot in the arm and on the left side of his torso. The victim advised that he opened his apartment door to see what was happening outside and when he did, he was shot.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Jessica Hawkins quickly applied pressure to the gunshot wounds until paramedics arrived and took the man to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Alzhrani was stabilized at St. Thomas and then taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Another victim by the name of Antavius Burns was also shot. He was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford with non-life threatening injuries on Sunday morning. Police say that a third subject who was believed to have been shot fled the scene in her white Dodge Charger. 20 Year old Dynasty Freeman was pulled over on East Main Street and transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A fourth gunshot victim by the name of Tedarrian DeShawn Tipton was also transported to the local hospital. The 24 year old was said to have non-life threatening injuries.

Murfreesboro Police Sergeant Kyle Evans told NewsRadio WGNS that officers discovered that a fight had broken out during a party and several persons were shot.

Evans noted that the city's Violent Crimes Unit is trying to determine what went wrong at the party just off Rutherford Boulevard, near Bradyville Pike. The case remains under investigation.
