On July 13, 2006, the Murfreesboro City Council passed on third and final reading an ordinance annexing properties located south of Manson Pike and along Brinkley Road.  A lawsuit was filed which stopped the ordinance from becoming effective 30 days after the third and final reading.  Since that time, a settlement was reached and the effective date of annexation will be October 5, 2011.  The area that will soon be in the city limits of Murfreesboro includes homes in the Blackman area along Brinkley Road. The area also covers neighborhoods on Willowbend Drive, Cloverhill Drive, Rexland Place and Heather Place.
