Murfreesboro City Schools and The Family Learning and Resource Center invites the public to the grand opening of their new Franklin Heights location on October 20, 2011 from 4 - 6 p.m. The Family Learning and Resource Center provides after school homework help and a computer lab to assist children in being prepared to learn in the classroom.
Additionally, the Center offers courses on financial literacy, GED classes, parenting support groups and workshops, healthy cooking and other resources. “This Center would not be possible without the assistance of Murfreesboro Housing Authority and many local community service agencies and volunteers, as well as our faith-based organizations,” says the Center’s coordinator, Andrea Bell, LMSW. “We work
side by side with so many others to help build positive relationships with children and families.”
The Family Learning and Resource Center is one of 3 centers operated in conjunction with Murfreesboro City Schools and a number of community based partners. The mission of the Center is to assure academic and personal success for each child by building supportive relationships with their families, providing services with the community and promoting healthy choices and goals.
The Franklin Heights Center is located at 607 Bridge Avenue in Murfreesboro. Additional Learning and Resource Centers are located at Mitchell Neilson Elementary and Bellwood Preschool.
Murfreesboro City Schools is a district of twelve schools committed to the academic and personal success of each child.
