•    October 28 - Roy Waldron School

During the school visits, children will receive age specific coloring books, stickers, and other information about fire prevention and safety.

Throughout the month, local students also designed posters with this year’s theme, “Protect Your Family from Fire.”  Six winners and their families will be invited to Fire Station 3 at 301 Bill Stewart Blvd. on November 3rd for a pizza party.

“Most families do not have a fire safety plan, but it’s really important to educate children about escape routes from the house and identify a safe place to meet outside,” LaVergne Fire Marshal Victor Woods said. “Have the children be a part of this planning process and encourage them to remind their parents to check smoke detectors every month.”

Given that fire safety can be vital for personal survival, Woods encourages all teachers to take advantage of the visiting firefighters during La Vergne’s Fire Safety Month and escort their classrooms to the outside presentation area.
