Dollar General at Epps Mill Road Closed for Pest Activity

We've received several calls inquiring about why the Dollar General Store at Epps Mill Road, near I-24, was closed. We've learned from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Consumer and Industry Services that "pest activity was noted during an inspection on April 10th. The closure is due to pest activity."

A handwritten sign on the door reads they're closed for maintenance. The store was still closed as of Thursday (4-20-17), with the windows blacked out to prevent anyone from seeing inside. The presence of EcoLabs raised even more concern with area residents.

One resident tells NewsRadio WGNS he was in the checkout line, a week before the closure, behind someone purchasing a cold water. After the employee checked out that person, he overheard the employee suggest the water purchaser "wash the bottle off before drinking it."

A call to the Epps Mill Road location was answered. When asked "why was the store closed," our reporter was told "you'll have to call corporate" and was hung up on.

Crystal Ghassemi with Dollar General Corporate, by email, tells NewsRadio WGNS "We currently have our store in Christiana closed to address store standard issues. We currently anticipate the store to be closed through early May and look forward to welcoming the community back to this location at the completion of that process. We also encourage customers to visit our surrounding Rutherford County stores in the interim."
