Annual Reagan Day Dinner May 25th

The Rutherford County Republican Party is pleased to announce that all of the seven currently announced or expected to announce GOP Gubernatorial candidates will be keynoting the party's Annual Reagan Day Dinner on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro.

Rutherford County GOP Chairman Donna Barrett said, "We are very excited to welcome the following individuals to Rutherford County; Senator Mae Beavers, Congressman Diane Black, Randy Boyd, Senator Mark Green, Speaker Beth Harwell, Bill Lee and Senator Mark Norris. The Republican Party is extremely fortunate to have a group of citizen legislators and proven businessmen and women who all share concern for our state and have the voter's best interests at heart. We look forward to hearing their perspectives on tackling the challenges facing our state."

The Republican Party Reagan Day Dinner is the local party's annual fund-raising event. Funds raised are used to elect republicans to public office, organize precincts, operate the headquarters and promote conservative Republican principles.

Senator Mae Beavers, before retiring worked as a court reporter and paralegal. Mae has served as a citizen legislator from 1990, as a Wilson County Commissioner, to present as a Tennessee State Senator. Mae and her husband, Jerry, have been married for more than 49 years and have two children and several grandchildren.

Congressman Diane Black is a registered nurse, small businesswoman and former educator. Diane has served as a citizen legislator from 1998, as a Tennessee State Representative, to present as a US Congressman. Diane and her husband, Dr, David Black, have been married for more than 35 years and have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Randy Boyd is the founder of Radio Systems Corporation, a company employing more than 700. From December 2014 until January 2017, Randy served as Tennessee's Economic and Community Development Commissioner. Randy and his wife, Jenny, have been married for more than 33 years and have two children.

Senator Mark Green is a West Point graduate and a flight surgeon in the US Army. Mark founded and served as the CEO of Align MD. Mark has served as a citizen legislator since 2012 in the Tennessee State Senate. In 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Mark to be the United States Secretary of the Army; Mark withdrew his nomination on May 5th. Mark and his wife, Carrie, have been married for 29 years and have two children.

Speaker Beth Harwell, prior to her tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Belmont University. Beth has served as a citizen legislator since 1988 and is Tennessee's first woman Speaker. Beth and her husband, Sam, have three children.

Bill Lee is CEO of The Lee Company, a business his grandfather founded in 1944, and is active in Triple L Ranch, a fourth-generation family farm. Bill has served our state for many years on various education and community organization boards. Bill has four children and two grandchildren.

Senator Mark Norris is a senior partner in the West Tennessee law firm of Armstrong Allen. Mark has served as a citizen legislator as a Tennessee State Senator since 2000. Mark and his wife, Chris, have two children.
