Crews are feverishly working to complete the Bridge Over Broad project, while the Murfreesboro City Council is trying to secure a better suited name for the bridge.
$17.6 million bridge project is designed to relieve extreme congestion at the Broad and Memorial/Old Fort Parkway intersection. When opened, it will create a single point urban interchange.

There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd, Old Fort Pkwy and Ridgley Road for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. At all times, one lane will remain open in each direction. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street at Broad St is opened to traffic and is restricted to right-in and right-out movements only. Westbound traffic has been shifted to the north side to align with the newly constructed ramp. On Broad St, the northbound and southbound left turn movements can only be made during a protected turn signal phase. Appropriate traffic controls and detours will be in-place.

At the December 3, 2017 meeting, Councilmember Rick LaLance proposed First Responders Memorial Bridge, but it was decided the public's input is needed. so the Murfreesboro City Council requests ideas from the public about what to call this new structure.
