March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital's Dr. Mark Manwaring tells about colon cancer and interacts with local residents about this disease. He reports that early detection of colon cancer offers a 90 per cent cure rate. He also suggests a colonoscopy for everyone starting with age 50, or earlier if one of their parents had colon cancer.
Dr. Manwaring is with Murfreesboro Surgical Specialists in the DePaul Medical Building (1800 Medical Center Parkway) on the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital campus. Phone 615-867-1940.
