The man killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Bell Road has been positively identified as Jamarquez Rakeem Owens, 20, of Smyrna.
Owens was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra east on Bell Road when he left the roadway and collided with a utility pole at 4:20 a.m. The vehicle caught fire. Owens was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
Due to the extent of the injuries, positive identification was made by the Medical Examiner's Office. The Nissan Sentra had reportedly been stolen from a Haywood Lane market prior to the crash. The owner, Faustino Yacobo, 49, did not report it stolen until Sunday night.
