Jewelry and flat screen televisions are proving to be the hot item for thieves during this holiday season. Homes on Montclair Avenue, Georgetown Lane, South Rutherford Boulevard and Cree Court were broken into on Monday. In the thefts, several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and TV’s have been reported as stolen. You may ask what someone does with stolen merchandise. Good question. One of the things that thieves do to make a little extra Christmas cash is to pawn their stolen goods. Here’s the kicker - - every time an item is sold at a pawn shop, the persons who sell the item in question has to register their drivers license with pawn shop personnel. Those names are then turned into the police department daily. That being said, make sure you have a good detailed list of your personal items to give to police if your home is broken into.
