A Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputy alleges in warrants that the State Adult Protective Services assisted them at the Beech Grove residence to investigate elder abuse.

Officers along with the adult protective services found Carman-Thacker’s 60-year old sister locked in a small shed that was on the back of a burned out trailer. When they arrived at the shed it was locked from the outside with the hasp wired shut from the outside. The victim could not get out of the shed if there was a fire or an emergency.

According to the warrants, the woman had no access to running water, electricity or food. There was a toilet in the shed that mounted to the floor, but had no running water in it, it was full of waste. There was a heater that was plugged into an extension cord.

Officers asked the woman when she last ate and she informed them that she was fed once a day. She said that she only ate in the evening.

Carman-Thacker is scheduled to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court on Dec. 19
According to Capt. Frank Watkins, the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
