Food Drive - Get Out and Vote Drive

Dec 08, 2011 at 08:33 am by bryan

On Saturday, December 10, from   8:30 to 11:30, residents of Rutherford County and surrounding areas will have a unique opportunity to help families who are struggling during these tough economic times. That unique opportunity is to cast a vote and help those who cannot afford food. Many families have heads of household who are out of work, while countless others are finding it harder and harder to put a decent, nutritious meal on the table. Food banks such as Second harvest and others are finding their shelves drastically in need of replenishing. Kevin Fisher is spearheading an effort to collect food for the less fortunate in our community. Fisher is encouraging citizens from all across our community to help fill cupboards all across the community.

Every item donated will be going onto dinner tables right here in our community- Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Lavergne, Rockvale, Eagleville, Christiana and throughout Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee region. Fisher is asking for non perishable items -peanut butter, canned meat, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta and cereal.

When you donate any of these respective items, you will be given a ballot to mark your preference for President in the upcoming 2012 Presidential elections. Regardless of your political leanings, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative Fisher is inviting everyone to come take part in this food drive and cast a ballot for your candidate. All major candidates will be on this ballot, and both parties will be represented.

This event will be at the Rutherford County Courthouse on December 10 from 8:30 to 11:30.
