"Occupy Murfreesboro" protesters continued the holidays despite sub-freezing temps most evenings. The multiple tents are down to one, and it is to the side of the steps leading to the Civic Plaza.
A spokesperson told WGNS News, "We're protesting the ability for corporations being able to make large financial contributions to political campaigns."
Earlier this month, the Rutherford County Democratic Party unanimously endorsed the "Occupy" movement.
Action on the Civic Plaza was pretty-much non-existent in Murfreesboro on Christmas day, but that was not the situation in Nashville. A celebration mood with music and activities flooded the Civic Plaza in Nashville.
Across the nation, taxpayers are footing the bill for extra surveillance. Estimates show approximately $13-million has been spent toward police overtime, especially during marches and camp sites.
