First Baptist Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and Central Baptist Theological Seminary Tennessee will host a workshop on “Centering Prayer” on Saturday, February 25th, from 9 am to 3 pm at First Baptist Church, located at 200 E. Main Street in downtown Murfreesboro.
Led by Rev. Tom Ward, the workshop is designed to help participants deepen their relationships with God through establishing a discipline of praying specifically to feel God's presence. Also called the “Prayer of Simplicity”, centering prayer is a method of praying designed to help individuals open their minds and hearts to God in a way that transcends thoughts, words and emotions. Follow-up sessions will be held every Sunday in March, as well as on April 1st and 15th at the church.
In addition to acting as site coordinator for Central Baptist Theological Seminary Tennessee, Ircel Harrison serves as chair of the People Development Team at First Baptist Church, which coordinated the event. "All of us lead busy lives. In midst of our activity, we sometimes realize that we need a deeper relationship with God to handle the challenges of life. Centering Prayer provides that opportunity to connect with God and gain the guidance and strength we need from day to day," he said.
Cost for the workshop is $10, and includes lunch. To make a reservation for the workshop, please call Donna Loggins at (615) 893- 2514 or email DLoggins@fbcmboro.org by Friday, February 17th.
