The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the American College of Medical Practice Executives, both national organizations, have named Murfreesboro's Gabi Brockelsby 2011 Legislative Liaison of the Year.
Brocklesby is the practice manager for Murfreesboro Dermatology Clinic (MDC) and MDC Aesthetics Center, a longtime veteran of the health care industry. She has chaired the Tennessee MGMA’s (TMGMA) Legislative Committee for the past two years.
The Murfreesboro woman was chosen from a field of 40 nominees from state associations across the U.S. The annual award recognizes a medical practice professional who has provided outstanding leadership in MGMA on legislative and regulatory issues of importance to medical group practices.
MDC founder, Dr. Michael W. Bell, said, “We are fortunate to have Gabi Brocklesby as a key leader, not only in our practice, but also in our community and within the health care industry.”
Brocklesby commented, “With the many legislative and regulatory changes affecting the health care industry at both the state and federal levels, it was imperative for the TMGMA to create an active and assertive legislative liaison between the membership and our elected officials. We spent the first year developing our goals and objectives, and the second year we were ready to put some programs in place, including a weekly e-newsletter on Tennessee legislative issues and a Quick Response Team to work with legislators on key issues.”
Brocklesby served as Legislative Committee Chair, a new TMGMA Board position for the past two years. She currently is serving a third one-year term. She has been with the Murfreesboro Dermatology Clinic for eight years.
