The MTSU Student Farmers Market will be opens at noon this Friday (6/15/2012) and continues until 3:00 in the afternoon at the Horticulture Center. That's on Lightning Way across from the Tennessee Livestock Center.  The Student Farmers Market, which is held every Friday until mid-August, is open to the campus community and general public.

Fresh produce and plants, grown and harvested by students, faculty and staff, will be available. University officials noted that cash and checks are accepted, but no debit or credit cards.

An assortment of vegetables (strawberries, onions, potatoes, garlic, carrots, Swiss chard, cabbage, tomatoes, zucchini squash and more), MTSU honey, potted herbs and vegetables and nursery plants (perennials and shrubs) will be available. 

The produce is grown at the University’s Experiential Learning and Research Center at the MTSU Farm and Dairy off Guy James Road in Lascassas.

Proceeds from the sale go toward farm expenses and to the MTSU Plant and Soil Science Club, said Dr. Nate Phillips, assistant professor in the School of Agribusiness and Agriscience.

 Visitors should take either Faulkinberry Drive off Middle Tennessee Boulevard or Champion Way off Greenland Drive to reach the Horticulture Center on Lightning Way. To find parking near the sale site, for a printable campus map CLICK HERE.
