A man was charged after he allegedly assaulted a woman, kept in her bedroom two days and took her phone so she could not call for help, a sheriff’s deputy reported.
John Richard Scalf, 32, of Bradyville Pike was charged with domestic assault, false imprisonment and interfering with an emergency 911 call, reported arresting Deputy Andrew Quintal.
Quintal observed the woman’s left eye was bruised and partially closed and saw a bruise on her left arm. She was crying and upset.
Scalf told deputies he hit her in the eye a few times.
She reported Scalf kept her captive in her bedroom for two days and took her phone.
He later gave her a phone to call her mother but she called sheriff’s dispatchers for help.
“Due to the evidence and statements shown, Mr. Scalf was placed under arrest,” Quintal reported.
Scalf was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He was later released on $5,500 bond. A hearing is set Oct. 1 in General Sessions Court.
