(MURFREESBORO)  Murfreesboro Police Special Operations Unit responded to the Knights Inn on South Church Street where a male barricaded himself early Thursday morning.

Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS that the motel guests were asked to shelter in place for their safety as they coaxed the man out of the room.  Evidently, the man was threatening suicide, and Flowers noted that at one point he tried to provoke officers.
