The State of Tennessee deployed search and rescue resources to Louisiana today to support emergency officials readying for life-safety impacts from Hurricane Delta.

“In times of disaster, Tennesseans answer the call to help those in need,” Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said. “I am proud of these men and women from across the state and their commitment to provide life-saving services and relief to those affected by Hurricane Delta.”

The team includes a total of 39 members representing departments from the following Tennessee agencies and counties:

• Brentwood Fire Department
• Metro Nashville Public Works
• Nashville Fire Department
• Williamson County Emergency Management Agency
• Metro Nashville Police Department
• Franklin Fire Department
• Murfreesboro Fire Department
• Metro Nashville General Services
• Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management

“Tennessee is proud to continue its tradition of volunteering,” said TEMA Director Patrick Sheehan. “These dedicated emergency responders work every day to save lives in dire situations and I’m proud we have a team helping Louisiana in their time of need.”

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is coordinating Tennessee’s Hurricane Sally deployments through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). The task force will deploy for 14 days.

Hurricane Delta is currently a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. The storm is expected to continue strengthening until it makes landfall on the Northern Gulf Coast. This storm brings a significant threat of catastrophic flooding, storm surge, and high winds.
