(MURFREESBORO) The historic Murfreesboro square comes alive tonight (Friday 11/6/2020) from 6:00 until 9:00PM with the first annual HOLIDAY MARKETPLACE. Some say that the Murfreesboro square is just like a Norman Rockwell picture that has come to life. Come down tonight and experience the magic!

Three-hours filled with live music, fun, the Boro Art Crawl, and an opportunity to stroll around the public square and shop at 30 unique locally owned shops. Plus, the city’s finest eateries will be open for you to enjoy the area’s most delicious cuisine.

Don’t worry, everything tonight will all be in keeping with CDC guidelines—so wear your mask and practice social distancing. 

Boro Art Crawl

And to make your Christmas shopping even more special, several downtown businesses will host local artists who will be there to tell about and sell their works.

Shacklett’s Photography (105 S. Church St., eastside of square) unique jewelry created by Royce Vaughn.

FunTiques (118 S. Maple St., westside of square) features art by Meagan Armes.

Domenico’s Italian Deli (106 S. Maple St., westside of square) features artwork by The Rhinovirus.

Vine Street Marketplace (117 E. Vine St.) features photography by Mike McDougal.

Gallagher Guitar (118 N. Walnut St.) features their artful musical instruments made in their shop. Plus, in conjunction with the Rutherford Arts Alliance, Gallagher participated in the Scarecrows around the square.  Bennett’s art class did a Fabulous job. Come downtown and try to find all of the fun scarecrows.

Saturday Brings Cookin’ To Build

The Friday night fun on the Murfreesboro square is a warm-up to Habitat for Humanity’s 13th Annual COOKIN’ TO BUILD.  The inviting smell of home-made chili, soups, stew and gumbo will start filling the historic square on Saturday (11/7/2020) morning from 11:00 o'clock until 1:30 in the afternoon.

Some growing competition has been established over the years between area churches, law enforcement agencies, local eateries and businesses. All are trying to outdo each other with the best soup, chili, stew or gumbo imaginable.  There are also desserts, drinks and others delectable goodies offered as a part of Cookin’ To Build.

Ring in the Christmas season on the Murfreesboro square from 6:00 until 9:00 tonight, and then  Habitat’s Cookin’ To Build Saturday from 11:00AM until 1:30PM.
