Have you found it harder this year to find that perfect Christmas Tree? Apparently, there has been talk about a Christmas Tree shortage.

Nationwide, there are fewer trees this year for those who want a real Christmas Tree. Evidently, the issue has to do with a heightened demand for real trees combined with fewer trees available.

However, that is not necessarily the case for local Christmas Tree farms throughout Middle Tennessee. Most Christmas tree farms sell trees between Black Friday and Christmas Eve.

If you have never been to a Christmas tree farm, the process is easy and fun. Many farms offer pre-cut trees or will even bale and help load your tree for a stress-free ride home. Call ahead to make sure you bring the right tools, including straps to secure your tree.

Christmas Tree farms have adjusted to keep visitors safe this year. From limited building capacity and mobile checkout areas to sanitizing stations and plastic barriers, visitors can still make holiday memories with their family this Christmas season.

Even if you aren’t looking for a fresh Christmas tree, many tree farms offer other fun activities for the whole family. Whether you’re hoping to get a picture with Santa Claus, hike the farm trails, or stroll through the gift shop, you will make memories that will last a lifetime.

Big Box Retailer Christmas Trees:

If you purchased Christmas Trees in the past at big box hardware stores - you may find yourself scratching your head when you arrive at some of those chain stores. Why? Because most of the chain stores that once had the Christmas spirit in their parking lot have switched to online ordering of real Christmas Trees. In other words, if your heart is set on a tree from a big box store, you will have to order the tree on the stores’ website. After a few clicks, your tree will be ordered and later delivered to your home.

While ordering a tree to be delivered to your home sounds like a great idea, it can prove to be more trouble than what it’s worth. WGNS has found that many who order a tree online don’t like the look of the tree upon its arrival. The “More trouble than what it’s worth” comes into play when you decide to return the tree to the store.

When returning a tree, you will have to load the tree into your vehicle to take it back to the store. The problem continues to worsen because Christmas Trees are not stocked in the store. So, if you want to exchange the tree, you will have to re-order a new one and cross your fingers that the next tree that arrives at your doorstep is a tree that you like.

Keep in mind that most online Christmas Tree's are being shipped from other states. That said, if you buy a tree at a local farm or roadside Christmas Tree stand, you are not only helping local workers or non-profits at the site of purchase, you are also helping those who work at area tree farms in Tennessee.
