(SMYRNA TN) A milestone occurred at the Nissan plant in Smyrna. The largest manufacturing facility under one-roof in the U.S. The 14-millionth vehicle created at the Tennessee plant rolled off the assembly line. They make six different vehicles there, and the record breaker was a Nissan Rogue.
What a proud moment for Smyrna, especially when residents felt the town was doomed when the air base closed.
The massive plant was completed in 1983 and a white Nissan pickup was the first vehicle to roll off the assembly line.
Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant Vice President Jeff Younginer said, "This milestone not only underscores the success of our vehicles, but the dedication and capability of more than 7,000 hardworking men and women who walk through these doors every day."
The northern Rutherford County plant has been manufacturing Rogues since 2013, and have assembled over 1.1-million of the popular SUV's. This year, a J.D. Power Initial Quality Study ranked the local Rogue assembly line in the top five in quality performance among the manufacturing facilities in North America.
Congratulations to this local team for such a monumental milestone--#14-million at Nissan in Smyrna!
