Smyrna's Virtual "Christmas At Home" Cancelled Due To COVID-19

(SMYRNA TN) The Christmas At Home virtual celebration in Smyrna has been cancelled as a result of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee's newly enacted Executive Order #70 that limits the number to 10 for indoor gatherings. It is in effect now through 11:59PM (CST) on January 19, 2021.

Town of Smyrna PIO Kathy Ferrell told WGNS, "Although it was a virtual event, the number of individuals involved in the broadcast, performance, and logistics would be in violation of the order."

Governor Lee made this statewide announcement Sunday (12/20/2020) evening in walke of a surge in COVID-19 cases statewide.

Ferrell explained that students from Stewarts Creek High School’s production program had planned to work with the Town of Smyrna’s media services personnel to broadcast Christmas @Home live on Stewarts Creek television, but the number of individuals required to create the virtual event would exceed the number in the governor's new order #70.
