The weight of the snow and ice from the winter storm have taken its toll on some homes and businesses. 

Ginny Williams at Gil's Ace Hardware says Friday at 9:45 a.m., they heard a crash and went outside to find their awning and brick came crumbling down due to the weight of the snow.

WGNS' own Bryan Barrett came home Friday to find two of the three posts holding up his carport awning had buckled under the snow and ice. Farrer Construction was quick to the scene to help secure the carport until thawing can bring repairs.

Some homeowners have reported ice dams in their gutters and eaves. This is thick ridges of solid ice that build up. Dams can tear off gutters, loosen shingles, and cause water to back up and pour into your house.
