A costly zero turn radius lawnmower was fraudulently purchased in Murfreesboro and police want help in determining the name of the buyer.
Detectives were able to capture a photo of the unknown man who made the purchase of a Scag brand zero-turn mower for $8,550.63. The purchase was made at Hooper Power Equipment behind Cannonsburg Village (418 S. Front St.).
After buying the mower, the man hired a towing company to transport the bright orange machine to a local storage facility.
On March 4th, the person of interest used another tow truck company to haul the mower to a storage facility in Lebanon, TN.
Once the mower made it to a storage business in Lebanon, the man used a name of “Thomas Johnson” to remove the mower from the storage complex. He then towed the zero-turn away in a personal truck that had a trailer on the back. The pickup had a TN tag on the back, but the number was unreadable in surveillance photos.
If you have any information about who the man captured in photos is, police ask that you contact MPD Detective Wes Hall at 629-201-5611 or send tips to crimetips@murfreesborotn.gov.
