3-Day Juneteenth Celebration At Bradley Academy Museum & Cultural Center

(MURFREESBORO)  The Juneteenth celebration at Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center concluded a 3-day commemoration on Saturday afternoon. Sunny skies and temps in the 80s made for a perfect day that was filled with history, music, games, food and fun. 

President Joe Biden signed legislation into law that makes Juneteenth a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. In 1863 the original act took place in Galveston, Texas and celebrated the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America.

Saturday (6/19/2021) saw the afternoon filled with local artists, music, food and a special kid's zone. 

Leading up to the weekend's activities, there were special author talks on Thursday (6/17/2021). It gave support to aspiring African American authors in Rutherford County. It included poets, artists, musicians and more.

Friday (6/18) focused on the youth and gave them a way to remember the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future.
