(MURFREESBORO) The dream of home ownership came true for four more families at 4:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon (7/15/2021) as Habitat for Humanity dedications took place in the Legacy Pointe subdivision off Halls Hill Pike.
Three new families joined the initial four in the new community. Eventually, 77 families will create dreams and a new way of life there. Congratulations to the Miles, Sawmha, and Dail families on successfully completing the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity program, and achieving your dream of changing the trajectory of your family by purchasing a home.
Local Habitat Executive Director Terri Shultz was finding it not only difficult, but cost prohibitive to find affordable lots. That’s when the concept of getting a large parcel of land and creating a Habitat for Humanity subdivision.
Each homeowner must first meet strict requirements that show they can afford to purchase a home. Then they take classes in finances and home maintenance. Plus, invest 300-400 hours of sweat equity in helping neighbors and themselves with building the structures.
