(RUTHERFORD COUNTY) A trailer truck and a large Uhaul box truck collided on I-24 Tuesday (7/27/2021) evening and the tractor jack-knifed with the trailer. The incident occured at the 90 mile marker (between Buchanan Road and Beechgrove) in the westbound lane (toward Nashville).
Trooper Elliot reports that a Ford F-650 U-Haul truck and pulling a trailer was traveling westbound near the 90mm. That vehicle attempted to make a lane change in front of Freightliner tractor trailer truck. The trailer being pulled by the U-Haul truck struck the front of big rig while changing lanes and caused the tractor trailer rig to run off the roadway. The Ford F-650 U-Haul stopped on the right shoulder with a flat tire on the trailer. The tire was changedand the U-Haul continued without a tow.
There were no injuries with two drivers and 3 passengers.
Traffic was slowed to one-lane for a period of time while first responders got information and cleared the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation. In addition, units from the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and Rutherford County Fire-Rescue assisted.
