County Farm Road Shut Down at Slab Due to Flooding

(RUTHERFORD COUTY, TN)  At around 10 o’clock Tuesday (8/31/21) morning, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office announced the closure of County Farm Road at the slab, just behind Community Care of Rutherford County.

The small bridge had to be shut down as it was deemed unsafe to pass, due to rising water passing over County Farm Road caused the closure of the road in south Rutherford County.

The Sheriff’s Office told WGNS, “Remember, just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down and 1 foot of water can sweep your vehicle away. Be careful when driving on roads covered with water.”


Prepare for flooding this week in Rutherford County

About 2 to 5 inches of rainfall may produce flash throughout the week in Rutherford County.

Because some of the rain begins after dark, Rutherford County residents are asked to be extra cautious when driving in low-lying areas.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, motorist should watch out for roads that normally close for flooding especially in the Christiana, Kittrell, Rockvale, Eagleville, Blackman, Walter Hill and Buchanan communities.

Please pay attention to the barrier signs and road closed signs for your safety.

• Do not walk, swim or drive through flood waters. Remember, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down and 1 foot of water can sweep your vehicle away.
• Stay inside your car if trapped in rapidly moving water. Get on the roof is water is rising inside the car.
• Stay off bridges over fast-moving water. Fast-moving water can wash bridges away without warning.
