Virtual Field Trips taken in Murfreesboro During COVID Pandemic

This school year and last have been quite different for local students. While regular field trips may have been canceled, there have been virtual field trips. Some of those virtual field trips have felt quite real, thanks to what educators call "Google Goggles..."

Google Expeditions was developed by Google and designed for schools. Some of the expeditions lead students through museums, other countries, National Parks, underwater, or even into outer space. The nicknamed “Google Goggles” are shared by several different Murfreesboro City Schools.

Google No Longer Offering Expeditions

Google Expeditions are no longer available for schools. However, another company is filling the void.

A company called RobotLab has since introduced what they are calling VR Expeditions 2.0 for schools. The company has teamed up with Encyclopedia Britannica to lead students to a variety of far-away places.
