(MURFREESBORO) Senior Citizens Awareness Network members shared laughs and food during the annual SCAN Thanksgiving lunch Wednesday at Lane Agri-Park. But the real treat was the bingo competition for fun and prizes.
The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office SCAN program volunteers help senior citizens with safety, food and home visits.
SCAN member Patrice Wright called volunteer Phil Barnett while he vacationed in Florida recently. When Barnett asked what she wanted from Florida, she asked for sand.
Barnett presented her with a container of sand and sea shells at the lunch.
“Oh, I love it,” Wright said.
Scan member Helen “Holly” Cannon has been spending time mostly in her home.
“I am so happy to be here today,” Cannon said with a smile stretching across her face. “I am thoroughly enjoying being out.”
SCAN thanks Atmos Energy, the Alley on Main restaurant and Slim Chickens for their donations for the Thanksgiving lunch.
SCAN members who were unable to attend received meals provided by Publix at Salem Cove and delivered by deputies and volunteers. SCAN thanks Publix for those hot meals. And NewsRadio WGNS thans the Senior Citizens Awareness Network for all that they do to make this community even better.
