Rutherford County School Resource Officers and Toot’s customers raised $8,622 for Christmas gifts for kids. WGNS was told that the less fortunate Rutherford County schools’ students will get to enjoy their Christmas shopping this Saturday (December 11, 2021), thanks to the generosity of Toot’s restaurants and customers.

Sheriff’s school resource officers and the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy Alumni Association members collected the funds from all three Toot’s restaurant Murfreesboro customers this past Tuesday night.

SROs, alumni and other volunteers will take about 30 children Christmas shopping so they can select their own gifts for themselves. In years past, many of the children choose gifts for siblings and parents.

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh thanked Toot’s restaurants for sponsoring the fund-raiser, the customers for their generous support and the volunteers who collect the money.

“We live in a giving community whose residents support our children’s needs,” Fitzhugh said. The Rutherford County Sheriff went on to say, “We appreciate everyone who contributed so our children can experience the joy of Christmas."
