(MURFREESBORO) Rutherford County Sheriffs deputies brought big smiles to the faces of 35 county school students Saturday. They joined Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh, the sheriff’s School Resource Officers, VA Police officers and Sheriff’s Citizens Academy alumni to go Christmas shopping.
Sheriff Fitzhugh thanked Toot’s owner Wade Hays and his staff, who allowed the SROs and alumni to collect donations at the three Murfreesboro restaurants, the Toot’s diners, the Murfreesboro Exchange Club and all the donors. He thanked Walmart for their sponsorship.
Fitzhugh said, “We depend on our generous community who support the children and allow the SROs and alumni to take the children shopping. It’s heartening to watch the children’s joy while choosing presents for themselves and their families.”
