(MURFREESBORO)  Rucker Lane Phase 1 is now open following reconstruction. The newly constructed section is open to traffic to Veterans Parkway and access to Old Salem has been restored. While open to traffic, work will continue outside the roadway as the contractor completes the work. This may result in temporary traffic interruptions.

The one-mile section of Rucker Lane from near Muirwood Boulevard to Veterans Parkway was advertised for bidding in January 2021. Reconstruction began in Spring 2021. The roadway project was completed on time and within budget.

Phase 1 of the project originally estimated at $5.1 million, upgraded a one-mile section of Rucker Lane by widening to a three-lane street section including curb and gutter and sidewalk on each side. The Rucker Lane construction project was awarded on the low bid of $2,299,947 to Charles Deweese Construction, LLC and approved by the City Council, April 8, 2021.  Engineering design for the project was handled by Wiser Consultants and Energy Land & Infrastructure provided professional services during construction.

Phase 2 of the Rucker Lane reconstruction will improve the road from Muirwood Boulevard to Franklin Road (Hwy 96) and is planned to begin this spring.
