UPDATE: Authorities still searching for car involved in a pedestrian hit and run incident

The Smyrna Police Department (SPD) continues to search for a vehicle that reportedly struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene. The incident took place just before 6:00 PM, Wednesday evening on February 2, 2022.

Looking back to the evening of the 2nd, dispatchers were notified that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle on Mitchell Avenue at Fairview Avenue in Smyrna, TN. The vehicle left the scene without stopping, according to police. The pedestrian was severely injured in the incident.

On Tuesday afternoon,  WGNS spoke to Smyrna Public Information Officer Kathy Ferrell. She said, “Detective Martin is communicating with the victim’s family; the victim was injured, but is expected to make a full recovery.” Ferrell said the investigation is active and ongoing and so far, no arrests have been made.

It is believed that the vehicle that struck the pedestrian may have damage on the front right corner of the car, the extent of the damage is unknown. The vehicle may be a darker colored Dodge Charger, or a similar type sedan. Nearby surveillance photos of the vehicle were not clear.
