Wednesday night storm in Rutherford County, TN

The storm that blew through Rutherford County on Wednesday night left behind damage caused by wind and lightning.

The Murfreesboro Police Department reported downed trees and power lines.

MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers said in an email, “Powerlines down on NW Broad near Treemont. A tree fell on a house on East Vine Street.”

Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue crews helped one homeowner by putting a tarp on their roof after a tree fell onto the house.

As of 9:50, Wednesday night – there were no reported injuries in Murfreesboro.

In the Smyrna area, there were multiple reports of power outages and downed trees. However, there were no reports of serious structural damage or bodily injury to area residents.

Due to downed trees and powerlines, Smyrna authorities had to close Tank Street between Sam Davis and Lowry Street. The police department also shut down Highpoint in Smyrna.
