This Friday and Saturday, Prevention Coalition for Success (PC4S), the substance abuse prevention coalition in Rutherford County, will be partnering with Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, TrustPoint Hospital, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, Smyrna Police Department, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Murfreesboro Police Department for Drug Take Back Events.
Friday, April 29, 2022 from 8am to 2pm the Drug Take Back will be at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and it will involve TrustPoint Hospital and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday, April 30, 2022, a Drug Take Back event will be held from 10am to 2pm at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in cooperation with the Murfreesboro Police Department.
The Smyrna Police Department will host a Drug Take Back event as well this weekend. There, both prescription and over the counter medications can be dropped off on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The Smyrna drug drop-off will be open from 10am to 2pm at the Smyrna Police Department lobby.
Drug take back events are community events that encourage everyone to safely dispose of their expired and unused medications (that they no longer need to take). This helps keep the medications from getting into the wrong hands and keeps them from getting into the landfill and water supply.
Anyone can bring their over the counter medications and prescription medications to the drug take back events to be properly disposed of. No questions will be asked, and this is an anonymous process (No sharps or liquids will be accepted).
Free home medication lockboxes to safely store medications will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
