Arrest made after Thursday night fire in Rutherford County

(Rutherford County, Tenn) Just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue, Kittrell Volunteer Fire Department and the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of an outbuilding on fire in the 1200 block of Richland Richardson Road.

Units were notified that Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were already on the scene after responding to a reported dispute at the property prior to the fire.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered an outbuilding heavily involved in flames. The blaze was quickly extinguished. The Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office was then called to the scene.

An investigation revealed the fire had been intentionally set. 50-year-old Donna Earley of Rutherford County was interviewed and ultimately confessed to starting the fire, according to RCFR.

Earley was arrested and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with arson and placed under a $10,000 bond.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office also took out additional charges for offenses that allegedly occurred prior to the fire.
