(MURFREESBORO) Here's an update on the fatal two-vehicle crash that killed 30-year old Brittany Cole of Murfreesboro. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The accident occured around 2:30AM Saturday (7/30/2022) morning on Memorial Blvd. at Mapco near Clark Boulevard.
Brittany Cole Dies At the Scene
Flowers explained that the preliminary investigation shows Ryder was traveling north on Memorial in his 2017 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck and collided into the driver’s side of a 2007 Saturn Ion, driven by Cole. Cole was attempting to make a left turn out of the Mapco parking lot. The truck then rolled over.
Cole was trapped inside her car. Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue's emergency responders used hydraulic equipment to free her. Firefighters and Rutherford County Emergency Services personnel began medical care before Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say Brittany Cole was wearing a seatbelt, but Robert Ryder was not.
Robert Ryder Charged
Robert Ryder of Murfreesboro (mugshot to the right) was charged with one count of vehicular homicide. Ryder was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. He was arrested after being discharged from the hospital. 33-year old Robert Ryder was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on $350,000 bond. A hearing is set Nov. 28 in General Sessions Court.
Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers said, "33-year old Robert Ryder faces vehicular homicide charges after allegedly causing a two-vehicle wreck that claimed one person’s life. Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.T.) investigators believe the man may have been drinking and speeding prior to the fatal crash."
The MPD reports that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. WGNS will continue to follow this news story.

Murfreesboro Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told NewsRadio WGNS, "The preliminary investigation shows the male driver of a 2017 Toyota Tundra was traveling north on Memorial and collided into the driver’s side of a 2007 Saturn S that was attempting to make a left turn out of the parking lot of the Mapco Mart. The Tundra then rolled over."

The female driver of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. The Murfreesboro Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.T.) is investigating a t-boned crash that left one driver dead on Saturday, July 30.
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services rushed the male to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
