(MURFREESBORO, TENN.) On Thursday, September 1st, General Sessions Judge Toby Gilley will swear-in re-elected Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland and City Council member Madelyn Scales Harris (Vice Mayor). The Judge will also be swearing in new faces to the City Council to include Austin Maxwell and Jami Averwater. There will be a special ceremony for the swearing in at 4:30 Thursday afternoon (Sept. 1, 2022) in the City Hall Rotunda (111 West Vine Street Murfreesboro, TN 37130).
During the ceremony, Judge Gilley will perform the official installation of the oath of office for the mayor and council members who recently won the election on August 4, 2022. The ceremony will take place between 4:30 PM and 5:15 PM.
The swearing-in ceremony will be followed by a Public Comment period at approximately 5:30 PM in Council Chambers and the regularly scheduled City Council meeting will start at 6:00 PM with the newly elected council members.
