We are only a few months away from the “Shop with a Cop” Christmas program and the Murfreesboro Police Department reports they are in need of some major help… That was Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Amy Denton who works to organize the shopping expedition. Denton said that at least two children from each of the 13 Murfreesboro City Schools are chosen to participate in the Christmas shopping adventure by school officials... The family of the child must meet certain income criteria to be picked.
Shop with a Cop typically takes place on the first Saturday in December, but budgeting for the annual program is finalized in October. The police department totals-up the funds that are in the account and then divides it by the number of children.
To help with the Shop with a Cop program, which is 100% donation funded, call MPD Sgt. Amy Denton at 615-629-201-5580 or email her HERE. You can also call the main MPD Headquarters and ask for Sgt. Denton at 615-893-1311.
