REMINDER - (MURFREESBORO) The annual READ TO SUCCEED "Celebrity Spelling Bee" is set for Thursday evening, November 3, 2022, at the Cooper Ridge Event Center (3597 Betty Ford Rd.). Jolene Radnoti, Executive Director of Read To Succeed, said the statistics on reading are surprising… In addition to great food and the spelling contest, there will also be a LIVE auction, which will feature some fantastic items to bid on!

Read to Succeed was established in the summer of 2003 to offer free literacy programs and events to adults, families, and children. It truly promotes family literacy. The organization was made-up of Rutherford County educators, social workers, agency directors, community helpers and volunteers. The resources of the Jennings and Rececca Jones Foundation funded the concept.

In 2021, the annual spelling bee took a total of 15 rounds of fierce competition, but at the end, Lori Cutler stood out among the rest as the best speller in Rutherford County! She beat Lisa Trail in the head-to-head rounds with the word “mandible.” Lisa Trail went out on “malign.”

Lori wasn’t the only one to take home a trophy last year. Lisa Trail, who came in second for spelling, took home the trophy for most funds raised with over $1,200! Dr. Echell Eady won the most individual donations award by rallying 50 people to sponsor her Celebrity Spelling Bee run!

THIS YEAR - The 2022 Celebrity Spelling Bee will be held at the Copper Ridge Event Venue on November 3, 2022. The doors will open at 5:30 PM and the program will get underway at 6:30 PM. The location address is 3597 Betty Ford Rd., in Murfreesboro, TN (37130).
