(Rutherford County, TN) Earlier this month, over 50 Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford associates gathered together with Greenhouse Ministries, a local non-profit organization, to provide Thanksgiving meals to those in need.
Since 1999, Greenhouse Ministries has connected locals in need with life-changing resources including clothes, furniture, peer counseling, educational opportunities, and much more.
More than 600 turkeys, along with bags of stuffing, cranberry sauces, hams, and carrots, were donated by community members and Second Harvest Food Bank during the Thanksgiving holiday. The turkeys and side dishes were handed out to those who normally couldn’t afford to fix a Thanksgiving meal. Cliff Sharp with Greenhouse Ministries highlighted the story of one woman who received the key ingredients to a Thanksgiving meal… Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford said, "We are inspired by Greenhouse Ministries as they provide necessary resources to our neighbors." Ferguson also stated, "Working together to give back to those who need it most was a powerful way to start this holiday season."
