(ALMAVILLE) Listeners notified WGNS of a situation at the Almaville Convenience Center at 7693 Almaville Road, off I-840. Bumper-to-bumper traffic and several deputies turned out to be a line of cars waiting to enter thel convenience center to throw away large amounts of Christmas wrapping paper, along with discarded bows and ribbons.
RCSO Public Information Officer Lisa Marchesoni told WGNS, "People are trying to get rid of Christmas trash, so there is immense traffic congestion at the convenience center. Deputies are directing traffic to help speed up the traffic flow."
Rutherford County PIO Lisa Kaye said, "The Rutherford County Solid Waste Department, Emergency Management Agency, and Sheriff’s Office have taken measures to assist with traffic issues at the Almaville Convenience Center. We ask that citizens remain patient as we try and manage holiday waste."
