Manchester, TN - On Thursday, a Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested on a DUI charge. The arrest came after coworkers reported that Deputy Eric Nunley appeared to be acting as if he were under the influence.
Administrators contacted Nunley and say they noticed a smell of intoxication on his person. Staff then questioned Nunley about their suspicions and requested he submit to a field sobriety test, breath alcohol test and blood withdrawal to measure blood alcohol content.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Office reported that Nunley had a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit. Nunley was immediately taken into custody and charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. His blood sample was submitted to the TBI. Partner station WMSR further reported that Nunley was terminated.
