MTSU OKs online master’s degrees

(MURFREESBORO) Middle Tennessee State University’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, granted permission for the development of five online master’s degree programs that will align with student and workforce demands.

Trustees granted the first round of approvals for master’s degrees in Organizational and Professional Communication; Digital Media; Music Business; Project Management; and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The Division of Academic Affairs will next work with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission in the coming months to finalize plans for the degrees, then will come back before the Board of Trustees for final review and approval.

In other business, trustees:

  • Approved an honorary doctorate degree for MTSU donor and supporter John Floyd of Murfreesboro, founder and owner of Ole South Properties Inc., recognized among the Top 100 Home Builders in the nation. Floyd will receive his degree at MTSU’s summer commencement in August.
  • Approved the permanent appointment of Yvette Clark as vice president for information technology and chief information officer. Clark has been serving as the interim vice president for the past year.
