(La VERGNE, TN) A Smyrna resident drowned while fishing with 5 others on Percy Priest Lake in La Vergne. The body of 19-year old Myo Kyo from Smyrna was found around 7:30AM Friday morning (5/12/2023). Emergency responders used side-scan sonar to locate Kyo.

Reports from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency indicate that six persons were fishing in a 14-foot flat bottom jon boat. They decided to go to Bryant Recreation Area on the Mt. Juliet side of the lake. Around 1:30AM Friday morning, the boat started taking on water and capsized.

Five of those fishing made it back to shore safely, but one was missing until rescue crews recovered the body of 19-year old Myo Kyo from Smyrna six hours later.
