(RUTHERFORD COUNTY) This is POLICE WEEK all across the USA. Take time to thank a police officer for all that they do to protect us. We really should be thanking them throughout the year.
Two Sheriff's deputies went the extra mile to aide a disabled citizen when here car overheated. The situation was made even worse, because it was dark outside, and this was on one of those cold night back in April.
Local resident Marquisha Frazier became frightened when this happened.
She said, “With everything going on in the world, it makes you scared”
As she sat in her car, Sheriff’s Deputy Markis Woods stopped to check on her. She explained about her overheated car.
“He saw me shaking,” Frazier remembered. “He said, ‘ma’am, it’s going to be Ok.’”
Deputy Corey Taylor arrived and the deputies guided her to a convenience store. They tried to fix the car, but were unable to do the repair. They obtained permission from the store clerk to leave her car there and pushed it into a well-lit location.
They helped her into the patrol car and took her home.
Frazier was grateful for the deputies’ help and as they departed, she gave them a big hug.
She noted, “Those deputies didn’t have to push my car and they didn’t have to try to fix it. They calmed me down.”
As a caterer and food deliverer, Frazier decided to thank the deputies through her food creations. She brought some sliders, fries and dessert to one of their night shifts.
“From my heart, I just want to say thank you,” Frazier said to the midnight shift deputies during roll call.
“People need to celebrate the good,” Frazier said. “The guys here take the extra mile to show they are nice. They are the good ones.”
