UPDATED - MURFREESBORO, TN - A groundbreaking was held on Monday (05/22/2023) for six new model homes that will give potential homebuyers a glimpse into a new subdivision that is being built for those who are age 55 or older in Murfreesboro... That was Susan Chapin with the Pulte Group who told WGNS that Southern Harmony, a new Del Webb Community, will be located on over 520-acres about one mile west of Veterans Parkway.
With active adults in mind… And a target homebuyer that is 55+ years of age… Developers aim to build homes that come with less maintenance, which means you don’t have to have a green thumb - - or even a lawnmower for that matter…
Potential residents may have a few questions and one of those questions is likely focused on the 55+ requirement. Chapin told WGNS News… She elaborated that one spouse could be 55, while the other could be younger. Another question may revolve around children living in the 55+ community…
1,111 New Homes - A total of 1,111 homes will be built in Southern Harmony over the years to come. Homes ranging in size between 1,300-square-feet to 3,000-square-feet, along with unique touches and accents will set one home apart from another, while overall design themes will bring everything together. When it comes to home prices, there will be lot’s of factors at play. From dishing out the dough for all the bells and whistles, to holding your wallet tight – Chapin says it’s too early in the game to announce exact figures and here’s why…
When it comes to amenities, there is a long list in the making of things to do. Some of the highlights mentioned to WGNS included an indoor pool at the community clubhouse, an outdoor pool, walking trails, pickle ball courts, an outdoor amphitheater and even a Lifestyle Coordinator, similar to an activities director. If being active tickles your fancy and you like the idea of always having a nice and neat lawn, then you may not mind an HOA fee. But if you’re a do-it-yourself kind of person, don’t like to mix and mingle, then an HOA maybe more of a miss than a hit. WGNS asked…
The model homes that crews broke ground on this past Monday should be built and ready for OPEN HOUSES by the first half of 2024. At that point, contractors will have a better grasp of material and labor costs as they build into the future. In other words, pricing for everything from the actual homes to the HOA fees will be a bit more concrete by 2024. WGNS will keep you informed.
Questions - WGNS answered questions from listeners about the new community in the full newscast (hit the PLAY button below the photo and above this article to hear all the details in 5-minutes or less). Some of the questions focused on pricing, can residents own/drive golf carts in the future neighborhood, can owners rent or lease their home to others? Developers will be holding an information session to answer questions in the fall. The best way for those interested in the community to stay informed is to go to delwebb.com/SouthernHarmony and sign up to be a VIP. Developers plan to keep everyone up-to-date through emails as model homes are built and completed.
2022 - Public Safety Building Site for Rutherford County - In March of 2022, the original groundbreaking was held to make way for infrastructure. Former County Mayor Bill Ketron announced a deal with Del Webb developers that equaled 2-acres for the Rutherford County to utilize to build a future public safety building on. Ketron told those in attendance "The donation is huge for our citizens of Rutherford County. It will take us from 43 percent coverage to 94 per cent coverage for our Fire Rescue and EMS Ambulance Services. It will provide quicker response times when minutes and even seconds makes a difference in someone’s life!"
