MURFREESBORO, TENN – In the month of May, The Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation hosted three fundraising events in support of the Lee and Susan Moss Family NICU expansion project: Dr. Jim Boerner Nursery- Pediatric Golf Tournament, Artist at the Alley with Lauren Alaina, and The Ambassadors Margaritas in May. Through the very generous Rutherford community, the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation raised over $100,000.
Over the past year, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford welcomed 3,699 babies, with 400 of those being born in the Lee and Susan Moss Family NICU. The expansion will add six new bays to bring our total to 22, including space for multiples, where patients can spend as much time as they wish with their newborns. There will also be a new family waiting room and renovated Sleep Inn rooms for NICU mothers and babies. This expansion will also focus on our caregivers and staff, providing a larger consult room for doctors and providers and a new staff break room.
“As you can imagine, with the continued growth in our community, our need for outstanding prenatal care is also increasing,” said Gina DeJean, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Director. “We are proud to say that over the past seven years, the Foundation has funded almost $800,000 to support the children and newborns, their families, and the associates who care for them at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. We thank our community and sponsors: The Alley on Main, Saddlewood Farms, Stones River Total Beverage, FirstBank, Holloway Accounting, Design Blasting Services, Turner Construction, Lauren Alaina and John Montgomery Auction for joining us at these special events and allowing us to provide education for our associates and support for our newborns and their families.”
